Tailwind Deli News and Gifts, Inc. opened for business at the Wilmington International Airport (ILM) located in Wilmington, NC in January of 2005. Tailwind acquired a previously under-producing concessions establishment and quickly took action to increase sales and significantly bolster airport revenue. This was accomplished through a large remodeling effort which expanded the size of the gift shop, relocated the bar operations to be attached to the restaurant in the Pre-Security area, and installed a coffee cart and satellite bar in the Post-Security area.
Following the commencement of new airport security restrictions which limited the items that could be passed through checkpoints, another substantial investment was made to replace the coffee cart and satellite bar with a full service restaurant complete with an extensive cook-to-order menu, full service bar, and gift kiosk in the Post-Security area of the airport in order to best meet the needs of ILM’s traveling patrons. Catering for priveate jet operations as well as airport/community events is also available.
