Fort Wayne International Airport Unveils New Airport Restaurant and Partnership with Tailwind Hospitality, Inc

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Fort Wayne International Airport (FWA) is unveiling a new restaurant, coffee shop, and market area as part of the East Terminal Expansion Project. Local businesses Hop River Brewing and Bon Bon’s Coffee have both opened inside the airport terminal building under operator Tailwind Hospitality, Inc (dba “Tailwind Concessions” or “Tailwind”), headquartered in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Hop River Brewing and Bon Bon’s Coffee continue FWA’s commitment to serving as Northeast Indiana’s local airport by bringing local dining options to the airport terminal. These new concessions will enhance the passenger experience at FWA, offering local flavors and high-quality options that complement the airport’s broader East Terminal Expansion.

Tailwind Hospitality, Inc. brings a wealth of knowledge in delivering exemplary service as an industry leader in airport concessions; specializing in operating full-service restaurants, bars, retail, and gift shops in airports of similar size. Tailwind currently operates within nearly 60 airports across the country. Tailwind’s partnership with FWA exemplifies the value of strong collaboration with airports, enhancing the travel experience while supporting local businesses.

The opening of the new terminal restaurant area is the first major portion of the East Terminal Expansion to be open to the public. This space includes open concept seating, a large bar area featuring Hop River’s local beer selections, a brand-new kitchen area with all new equipment, a new point of sales system, updated technology, an open shared counter for easy ordering, and more! A new airport lounge also occupies the area, with an expected opening at a later date.

The East Terminal Expansion and Renovation Project continues to bring the Fort Wayne International Airport terminal building into the modern era – continuing the work started with the West Terminal Expansion and Rehabilitation Project, which wrapped construction at the end of May 2023. The East Terminal Expansion and Renovation project is a part of Project Gateway, which has included the West Terminal Expansion and Rehabilitation project, Parking Lot Rehabilitation Project, Rental Car Return Lot Canopy Expansion and Renewable Solar Energy Project, and the East and West Terminal Apron Improvement Project.
